Registered Location

The elevation does not correspond with the estimated elevation (109 metres (358 feet) -- source Geonames) at that point. Either the location or the elevation (or both) are almost certain to be incorrect. Please use the 'send the updated information' link below to update the location or elevation.

Please note that we are trying to spot either the Stevenson Screen (or equivalent) or the location where the barometric readings are taken.

The best way to get elevation is to consult a topographic map. Make sure that you know whether the contours are marked in feet or metres. Note that handheld GPS receivers do not provide readings of elevation accurate to better than 10-20 metres (technical discussion). If you do not have access to a topographic map, then a GPS receiver is acceptable, but make sure that it is operating in 3D mode and let it average the position for at least five minutes.

Picture Submission

There are two ways to submit pictures. If you are a flickr user, then see the flickr section below. Otherwise you can simply email the pictures as follows:

Email the pictures to f4529@photo.gladstonefamily.net.
If you use a smartphone that embeds the GPS coordinates in the pictures, then you can send any picture of a weather station to gps@photo.gladstonefamily.net and it will be associated with the correct station automatically.

Flickr Upload

Uploading picktures to flickr.com is easy. If you do not have a free flickr account, then you need to create one. Just go to flickr and click the 'Create your account' button. You can use a google account if you have one.

Once logged in, click on 'Upload Photos & Video'. Next click on 'Choose Photos and Videos', and walk through the process to upload your pictures. They will automatically be resized appropriately.

After the upload is complete, it will ask you to add titles, tags and descriptions. The key step is to add tags as follows:

wxtagged -- this indicates that this picture is of a weather station or surrounding area
wx:cwop=f4529 -- this indicates the site of which this is a picture
wxstation -- add this tag if the picture includes the weather station.

If you had to create your account, then you must upload at least five pictures. It will also take longer for your pictures to appear (a week or so). Otherwise, the pictures should appear after 24-48 hours.
